M3U editor: bulk-edit an IPTV playlist in the browser
Playlists arrive messy: duplicate channels, categories spelled three different ways, marketing emojis in names, half the entries missing tvg-id. Editing that by hand is hours of work. This editor applies the usual cleanup operations to the whole list at once — in your browser, with nothing uploaded and eight levels of undo.
Open the M3U editor →Available operations
- • Search & replace — literal or regex, scoped to channel names, URLs or all attributes.
- • Categories — rename, merge several into one, add a prefix, or delete a category with all its channels.
- • Channels — delete by filter, move to another category, edit name/logo/tvg-id inline.
- • Deduplicate — by stream URL (default), by name, or by name + URL.
- • Attributes — strip empty attributes, drop a specific attribute, fix quoting.
- • Sort — by name, group or URL, ascending or descending.
- • Extension — rewrite every stream URL from .ts to .m3u8 or back, useful when a player only accepts one form.
A typical cleanup session
- 1. Load the file (or paste a playlist URL). The list appears grouped by category.
- 2. Deduplicate by URL — this alone usually removes 5–20% of entries.
- 3. Regex-replace the provider's prefix in names, e.g. remove [VIP] or emoji blocks.
- 4. Merge duplicate categories (“TR”, “Turkiye”, “Turkey HD”) into one.
- 5. Export, then run the result through the checker to drop dead channels.
Load the playlist
An M3U link, a file or pasted text. The playlist is parsed in your browser; edits apply instantly and you can undo them at any moment.
The panel refused to serve get.php. You can build the playlist from the panel API (player_api.php) and edit it.
No playlist loaded yet.
Why browser-side editing
Playlists contain your panel credentials inside every URL. Uploading them to a random server is a bad idea, so this editor does the work locally: parsing, transformation and export all happen in the tab. Network access is only used if you ask the tool to fetch a playlist URL, and even then the file passes through a stateless proxy — nothing is written to a database.
Limits worth knowing
- • Very large catalogues (100,000+ entries) make the browser tab slow; process one category at a time.
- • Inline editing changes only what you touched; malformed #EXTINF lines are kept as-is.
- • Undo history covers the last eight operations, not the raw file.
FAQ
Can I edit a huge M3U file without uploading it?+
Yes. The file is read with the File Streams API in 64 KB chunks and parsed line by line, so a 30 MB playlist never sits in memory as one string. The same applies to exports: Chrome and Edge write the result straight to disk, other browsers build the blob in memory.
What bulk operations are available?+
Search & replace (plain text or regular expressions) across channel names, URLs and attributes; rename, merge, prefix or delete categories; delete or move channels; deduplicate by URL or by name; strip attributes; sort by name, group or URL; and switch the stream extension between .ts and .m3u8.
Is there an undo?+
Yes — eight steps. Every destructive action snapshots the channel list first, so you can roll back a bad regex without reloading the file.
Does it fix broken attributes?+
It can remove empty attributes and normalise quoting, and it keeps tvg-id, tvg-logo and group-title intact unless you edit them. If you want a full health report (duplicates, missing tvg-id, malformed URLs, 0-100 score), use the analyser instead.
